User Reviews

Yet another comedy from the summer of 2016, Keanu is about two cousins who come across a cat but little did they know this cat belongs to a gangster and is then stolen from them...and so off they go on a quest to get the cat back. Us British moviegoers were treated to this delight much later than the American audience, and when I say delight I mean the complete opposite as this was just unfunny, pointless and completely ridiculous. The film stars Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key, who I can only assume were popular to American viewers as I've never heard of them before, and a few other stars like Anna Faris and even Keanu Reeves. The acting was fine, slightly over the top for a few gags, but that is not what makes this unwatchable. It's actually the fact that nothing was funny, I did not laugh once (again, I dislike most comedy films, probably because I have no soul). The only funny scene was with Anna Faris, who was the only highlight of this film. Sure the cat was cute and the action was watchable, but when the film reuses the same two gags (one including George Michael songs and the other involving the main characters pretending to be gangsters) it's just not funny and grows incredibly tiresome. Don't even get me started on how this whole film started because the cat decided to show up on one of the lead characters's house, completely coincidental...if only it chose a different house I may have saved myself 100 minutes. Overall, this was a bad comedy film that wasn't actually funny with a terrible script...but the cat was cute.
